Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Cynthia Hanna is a physical therapist at Exchange Physical Therapy Group in Jersey City Heights. She earned her B.S. in Exercise Science from Rutgers University–New Brunswick in 2022 and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Rutgers University–Newark in 2025. During her graduate studies, Cynthia was recognized for her outstanding performance, earning the Academic Excellence Award and induction into the National Physical Therapy Student Honor Society.

During her time at Rutgers, Dr. Cynthia completed clinical affiliations at Valley Hospital, where she gained experience in both acute care and outpatient settings. In acute care, she assisted patients recovering from complex medical conditions and surgeries, while her outpatient experience focused on treating individuals with neurological diagnoses such as MS, Parkinson’s disease, Cerebral Palsy, and various vestibular disorders, including BPPV and concussion. She also completed affiliations at Kessler Rehabilitation Center and the New Jersey Center for Physical Therapy, where she worked with orthopedic and sports-related conditions, helping patients recover from injuries, improve performance, and return safely to their daily and athletic activities. Dr. Cynthia also has experience in aquatic therapy, using water-based techniques to improve strength, mobility, and function for both orthopedic and neurological patients.

Dr. Cynthia is passionate about treating patients of all ages and strongly believes that movement is medicine. Her approach emphasizes the power of conservative care—helping individuals heal, restore function, and improve their quality of life through movement. She strives to create a positive, motivating, and collaborative environment where patients feel supported and empowered to reach their goals.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Cynthia enjoys tennis, swimming, yoga, and weight lifting. She also teaches swim lessons, combining her love for movement and education to help others feel confident and capable both in and out of the water.
